Assassins - Black Meddle Pt.1

From the raw, bare bones aggression of "Ghost of Grace" to the Pink Floyd inspired, trippy trilogy of "Seasick" the band has pushed the envelope of black metal incorporating elements of Psychodelia and progressive rock into one hell of a mental journey.

Copremesis

Muay Thai Ladyboys

Leaving a lasting impression is what most band's strive for. Copremesis have certainly cemented some horrible visions in my head with Muay Thai Ladyboys — both visually and audibly. Like a sledge hammer to the side of the head, the grinding, brutal death metal contained within the album's nine tracks will leave a mark on you.

Nidrike

Blodsarv

Nidrike's Blodsarv is a pretty damned good black metal album. There are some great moments of maniacal riffing and soul plundering rhythms that only seem to grow in power when the fierce vocal attack vomits from your speakers. It's definitely an evil, evil album.

Moloch Letalis

Cold Execution

It's hard to say anything bad about raw, aggressive black metal — so I won't. I will tell you that Cold Execution is seven songs of sheer violent destruction with crushing rhythms and evil guitar work. This is certainly not one to be missed.

Miasma / Grauen Pestanz

Into the Fire of...

Into the Fire of Isolation is a brief but dark showcase of what both Miasma and Grauen Pestanz are capable of delivering. Bleak, nightmarish soundscapes mix with driving black metal to form an unholy union of diabolical proportions.

Hod

Cry and Piss Yourself

For a three song EP, Cry and Piss Yourself is quite a powerful and energetic release from this Texas based band. The material that storms from the speakers is raw, evil and full of hell fire delivered through pummeling drums and icy riffs.

Fetid Zombie

Pleasures of the Scalpel

This was an interesting release to say the least. It wreaks of your typical guttural, brutal death metal complete with pitch shifter and drum machine, but the technical guitar and off kilter song structures make it unique in this genre

Deicide

Till Death Do Us Part

Deicide have forgone the melodic aspects of the band's previous release for a more aggressive, chaotic feel. Benton and crew have once again unleashed the hounds of hell upon the earth.

Celestine

At the Borders of Arcadia

The raw feel to the vocals and the down tuned, churning guitars work so well together that when you add in the crushing drums it's nearly too much to handle.

Withered

Folie Circulaire

Withered's Folie Circulaire is one hell of an album. The sludgy feel to the mixture of black metal, grind and punk seems so natural when listening to this album. Add in dramatic and melancholy tones here and there and you've got yourself a premium sophomore effort from this highly touted group.
