Gutted With Broken Glass

Beaten to a Pulp

The album isn't really long enough to bore or get stagnate, but what it lacks in length, it more than makes up for in sheer and utter disregard for all things status quo. The guitars are so low tuned, noisy and heavy they nearly drown out everything else on the disc. And the drum programing matches the album's mood and theme with hyper active blasts and unrelenting pace.

BTBG's Extinction/Salvation is more than simple, crushing blows to the cranium. There's an intelligence behind the brutal attack that is both refreshing and surprising, yet delivered in such a fashion that it fits the thick, caustic feel of the album perfectly.

Do we really need to sell you on this one? This is probably the one and only time you'll have Akerfeldt on lead growls for Bloodbath in a live setting — ever.

This five piece from California is of the mindset that hardcore doesn't have to be completely serious and tend to take their music into obtuse directions, incorporating a variety of musical styles along the way — a frightening breathe of fresh air in a genre that sometimes can take itself a little bit too seriously

Celebrating 25 years as a band, Vader have unleashed this two disc set full of rerecorded classics, as well as a couple of surprised covers. You can never have enough Vader in your life.

The dueling guitars and massive drums are just too much to ignore on Tyrants of Deception. The subtle melodies that weave in and out of the crushing riffs and maniacal rhythm blasts creates a sonic balance that makes this EP something to revel in.

A Path to Extinction

Four songs of Dred's take on pummeling death/thrash is just too much of a tease to handle. Manic drums, crushing riffs, soaring solos and a beastly guttural vocal delivery all combine to create sheer devastation across their home continent — spreading like a dark shroud over the rest of the globe.

With the overall sound of a much more mature, seasoned group, Fracture Point's Inherit the Downfall is one hell of an impressive debut album. The group combines several elements of metal from various genres into a groove oriented powerhouse.

As far as splits go this one does a decent job of juxtapositioning two some what like minded bands with different sounds. Both bands deliver brutal, grind-core in their own maniacal fashion and each group has there moments, but this is pretty much a one sided release.

Capitollium

Bloodfall of Flesh

Capitollium take frighteningly brutal black metal, toss in some symphonic keyboards, a female opera singer and slick tempo shifts for one hell of a global debut. At times the disc will have you despondent and full of dread and then throw a complete 180° with soul crushing, blasting death from above.
