Unburied, Slut Decapitator

Mmmm… decapitated sluts. Sounds like something Homer Simpson may have said, if only he was a maniacal menace on humanity with a well running, yet rusty chainsaw. Needless to say, this certainly isn’t the animated one growling away on this disc. Unburied’s debut full length album combines groove oriented riffing with homicidal blasts of murderous chaos. Slut Decapitator is a body bag full of assorted human organs removed from their respective cavities and served with crushing riffs and thick rhythms.

Featuring underground artist Mark Riddick on bass and higher end screams, the gore grinding mayhem of Unburied is topped off by Matt Pike on guitars and lead growls and the frantic blasts of drummer Brian Forman. The trio combine with devastating effect on 10 chugging tracks of guttural, gore filled grinding death metal.

The Putrid Stench of Humanity
The first track starts off with chugging guitars and heavy drums that explode with a hellish scream. If this brief intro one doesn’t get you stoked for the rest of the album you’re listening to the wrong kind of music.

Slut Decapitator
The title track carries on where the opening intro left off, bludgeoning your face to unrecognizable mush with frantic blasts and chugging riffs. The vocals are raw and guttural as the group picks up speed with driving drums and thick bass. I love the rhythms that jump around in this one. They’re catchy and keep you on your toes.

Love for Dismemberment
Evil guitars greet the listener as this one explodes with layered vocals and thick rhythms. The blasting drums are sure to leave you bruised and bloody on the side of the street.

End it with a Knife
A big growl and evil guitars get this next one off to a rapid fire start with pummeling drums. There’s a decent head banging groove to this one that sets you up nicely for a grinding, bludgeoning attack just before the one minute mark. Reverb finishes out the song as the band gets ready for the next chugging monstrosity.

Human Butchery
“Human Butchery” starts off with cadenced riffs and heavy drum work. Layered growls and shouts soon join in the bloody festivities as the riffs churn your bowels into a bloody pulp. This thing is thick and brutal.

Tortured Remains
I love the opening riff to this one especially as the drums come in like rapid fire blasts to the kidneys. There’s a great groove flowing through this one, as well. It’ll have you head banging in no time flat.

Domicile of Flesh
Catchy drums and bass line open the front door to the “Domicile of Flesh.” The bass line is pretty funky and dominates the majority of the track as the layered vocals come in. This is a, for lack of a better word, fun track. It’s contagious rhythm just can’t be messed with.

Gore-Soaked Revenge
This track starts off with what I think is a quote from a Clint Eastwood movie, but I can’t, for the life of me, figure out what damn movie it’s from. At any rate, Unburied tear though two minutes of pummeling rhythms and chugging riffs with lots of layered vocals.

Evil Lurks Within
Another brief movie clip gets this grinding assault underway as the band seem homicidally intent on destroying their equipment before the track is complete. This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. It’s massive sound is only matched by its unbridled ferocity.

Stab, Hate, Mutilate
The final track starts out with driving riffs and quick footwork on the double bass as the vocals come in 30 second later. The riffs during the slowdown that follows are crushingly heavy. Hell, there’s even a slick lead around the 1:10 mark that’s chaotic and edged with violence.

The pungent stench of rotting flesh will linger long after this meat grinder of an album has come to an end. Chugging riffs, thick bass lines and homicidal drums fill the air any time Unburied are unleashed upon humanity. If you’re of sound mind and body, this is definitely one disc worth having in the collection.
