Motörhead, Better Motörhead Than Dead

A photo of one of the band’s amps in the packaging art with this double disc live album has “49% Motherfucker 51% Son Of A Bitch” scrawled on duct tap across the top of it. You can’t sum up Motörhead any better than that. They’ve been blowing speakers and destroying stages since 1975 — as long as my sorry ass has been breathing on this planet.

Recorded back in early June of 2005, Better Motörhead Than Dead features 23 songs spanning across several of the band’s albums. “Bomber,” “Ace of Spades,”, “Overkill” and several other fan favorites pepper both discs along with a Ramone’s cover, Lemmy’s commentary and a few other surprises.

Thirty years in the making, Motörhead prove on this live release why they’ve been destroying every town they visit on a consistent basis — night in, night out.

One of the best parts on this dual disc set is having some of Lemmy’s commentary recorded for posterity. He never meanders on when he speaks, speaking simply and to the point to get the crowd even more amped for the next song. You just can’t beat that.
