Germany’s LIFELESS have inked a deal with Ibex Moon Records for the release of the band’s sophomore effort and follow up to the devastating Beyond the Threshold of Death. With disdain for flavor-of-the-month “extreme” acts and mix-and-match new school DM, LIFELESS take with the utmost seriousness the creation of their traditional death metal, a style that is influenced by the legends of both the Stockholm and Tampa scenes.

Vocalist/guitarist Marc Niederhagemann had this to say about the signing to one of the world’s premier traditional death metal labels:

“The reason for us signing with Ibex Moon Records is the fact that it is an up and coming label
and we are an up and coming band. The match is perfect for both sides and we want to give it our best. Further, John McEntee gave a very fair offer for a band in our position. We are glad to get this chance and looking forward for to continuing this good working relationship.”

The as yet untitled new album will be released in early 2010. There are also plans for a worldwide re-release of Beyond the Threshold of Death through Ibex Moon Records.

Biography

The history of LIFELESS began in the fall of 2004 when former NON DIVINE members Marc Niederhagemann (vocals/guitar) and Andy Bleichert (guitar) were driven by passion to found a new band to perform the sound that has always been their favorite: traditional death metal! Unfortunately, they were forced to give up this idea for a while due to private problems. During 2005 those problems began to vanish, so the idea to found an old school death metal band was rekindled. When Jan Fleckhaus (bass) joined the band in the spring of 2006, LIFELESS finally was born. Fortunately, it took little time to find someone for the vacant position on drums. Daniel Lerose (also playing in SUFFOCATED ART) joined and completed the band.

In the winter of 2008 Jan decided to leave the band due to job-related reasons. His duties on bass were taken over by Daniel Wien. LIFELESS is one of Germany’s most traditional death metal acts, as demonstrated by their first album Beyond the Threshold of Death, which was produced and recorded by the band members themselves. The mastering was done by Vesa Kenttäkumpu from Swedish death metal legends EVOCATION. In the fall of 2009 LIFELESS was signed by U.S.-based IBEX MOON RECORDS.
