Zombie Apocalypse / Send More Paramedics,

I really enjoy listening to Zombie Apocalypse. Their speed and intensity really make them hard not to listen to. I’m not going to spend to much time on their portion of this split. The first 5 tracks are all Zombie.

This was my first introduction to Send More Paramedics. I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t take me a couple of listens to really get into this band. The music is really great. The guitars and drums are heavy and foreboding. The vocalist on the other hand takes some getting used to.

Based on the beginning of their first track on the split I was expecting a singer with a little more bass to his voice. I, on the other hand, was greeted by what sounded like a 12 year old that hadn’t quite gone through puberty yet. The vocals were scratching and pretty high pitched. Again, not at all what I was expecting. Even listening to their half of the split as I write up this review, I’m still finding myself not quite into them as much as I feel I should be.

I do like their overall sound and the campy lyrics, but man… he takes some getting used to. If you can get past a vocal delivery that doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of the band, you may enjoy these guys a bit more than I do.

Alright. It’s been a month and a half since this initial review, and I’ve got to say that I’m really starting to like Send More Paramedics’ side of this split. Took a while, but well worth the wait of getting used to the vocal delivery.
